AFP Charlotte will host the 19th Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon to be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010.  Networking will begin at 11:15 a.m., and the luncheon will start at 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton, Charlotte.The ceremony will honor community members who change the world with a giving heart. 

 

Awards are to be given in ten categories including Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business, Outstanding Philanthropic Organization, Outstanding Philanthropist, Outstanding Legacy, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser, Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist, Outstanding Student Philanthropy, and Outstanding Professional Fundraising Executive, and Outstanding Champion of Diversity. 

Register now to attend this event as a sponsor or as an individual. 
Printing deadline for programs, etc. is September 24th for sponsors to be included. But seats can still be reserved through October 29th.



National Philanthropy Day 2009On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, nearly five hundred philanthropists and development professionals gathered at the Charlotte Convention Center for the annual Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) National Philanthropy Day Luncheon.

National Philanthropy Day 209For the first time, the event committee had honorary event chairs: Sandra and Levine. Lauded for all of their philanthropic efforts, they were singled out for their role in the Critical Needs Response Fund administered by the Foundation for The Carolinas - an effort to reach needy people during tough economic times.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation was the lead sponsor again this year.

Awards were as follows:

  • Outstanding Champion of Diversity: Deborah Whitfield;
  • Outstanding Student Philanthropy:Johnson & Wales University Student Alumni Association;
  • Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist: Marc Gustafson;
  • Outstanding Legacy: Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Barber;
  • Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business: Merriman Schmitt Architects;
  • Outstanding Philanthropic Organization: Women’s Impact Fund;
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Elaine Lyerly;
  • Outstanding Professional Fundraising Executive: E.J. Underwood and
  • Outstanding Philanthropist: Nicholas T. Goudes.
